Ever since the MTV Europe Music Awards were launched in 1994, there have been many memorable moments that have shocked viewers into awe. With the 2013 edition of the Awards due to begin on the December 1, there is much anticipation as to what the next crazy moment is going to be. As a build up to this year’s Music Awards, we look back at the memorable moments that have made this ceremony really special.

P. Diddy Calls for Nudity

As the host of the 2002 EMAs, P. Diddy made sure that ceremony would bring out the crazy side of Europe; and it did. He offered a diamond-encrusted ring to any woman who would come up on to the stage, naked. Even before he could finish his sentence, a woman ran up on to the stage and undressed with much enthusiasm and to the delight the massive crowd at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Spain. Not only did she get a lot of cheer for being bold about her nudity, she went back home with the diamond-encrusted ring, as promised.

Kanye Rants on Stage

When it comes to making a huge scene at an awards ceremony, Kanye West is the first person that comes to mind. His outbursts at not winning a prize is the stuff that legends are made of. In the 2006 EMA, he made sure that he did it once again. When his video, ‘Touch the Sky’ lost to Justice and Simian’s ‘We Are Friends’, the American Rapper jumped on the the stage and interrupted the acceptance speech saying this his video cost a million dollars and that it had Pamela Anderson in it. His rant did not stop there as he went backstage and told the press how he should have won the award.

Rick Astley Rickrolls Europe

In the 2008 EMAs, Rick Astley, famous for his ‘Never Gonna Give Up’ rickrolling video, won the Best Act Ever after 100 million people voted for him. He beat the likes of Britney Spears, the Beatles and US and the funniest part is that he did not even show up for the award. He just released a statement saying that he was ‘honored’ to win the award.
