There is a debate between whether natural beauty is better than man-made beauty. Man-made beauty suggests that you use a number of health cosmetics which in turn will ‘improve’ your looks. Everyone has their own preference so really it is not my intention to judge anyone. Tan, hair extensions, foundation, makeup. These are all man made essentials which some girls just can’t live without. Whereas some people prefer the fresh and clean look. So, how do we determine what look is better? As I said, everyone has their own preferences so it is entirely up to you how you choose to look. Afterall it is your own appearance so nobody has the right to tell you that you should look a certain way etc. Here is a rundown of the pros and cons of both natural and manmade beauty. With any luck you will be able to decipher which look is best suited to you.
Many women look in the mirror and see flaws only. This is because the media has perceived beauty to have a specific meaning. When in fact I believe beauty is within us all. Despite this fact many women wear makeup cosmetics to hide what they assume to be not conceivable to the public eye. In order to keep up the the medias portrayal of ‘beauty’ women can use a number of cosmetics to help enhance or accentuate a part of their look. Minor adjustments such as makeup and tanning to the way we dress. More major alterations could be dental work or even plastic surgery. So, what drives us to want to improve ourselves consistently? The media falsely unveils to us exactly what beauty should be. This in turn makes women feel insecure, like they have to live up to some sort of expectation. You can choose to wear any makeup you like or have any type of surgery you desire. However, you should bear in mind that you should be concentrating on the good things about yourself rather than try and improve the flaws. Every single person has flaws as no one on this planet is perfect. You should embrace what you have instead of trying to keep up with the facade of being like everyone you see in the magazines.
Certain makeup can accentuate your look, for example you could wear foundation to add some highlight to your skin allowing you a natural glow. Also a tan may appear to make you look more healthy should you be suffering from iron deficiency or simply have a pale complexion. Some may use surgery more for emotional causes rather than just to look better. If for example you have a nose which you just can’t bear and it is causing you stress then some plastic surgery can help to boost your self esteem.
Artificial beauty overtime can cause health problems ranging from minor complications to more severe problems. For example, if you choose to use hair dye to constantly change the colour of your hair then this can overtime ruin the glow and growth of your hair. This will consequently make your hair very dry and in some cases hair has been known to fall out due to constant bleaching. Another example is if you regularly attend a tanning salon to have your tan topped up using a Sunbed. Sunbeds may seem harmless when in fact they could lead to you being exposed to harmful rays, this may result in complications such as skin cancer.
What could be more beneficial to you and your health then the all natural look. Some people may argue that they simply are unable to be completely natural due to too many flaws. This is where the medias portrayal of real beauty comes in. Then again some people may benefit from the use of a minimal amount of cosmetics. People may have skin problems where they feel uncomfortable bearing their own skin. For instance if you suffer with self esteem issues and feel like some foundation and blush improves your look as well as your confidence then this is another matter. It is entirely your choice with what you want your appearance to be. Just bear in mind all of the precautions you should take if you do decide artificial is best for you.
You are keeping your skin free of blemishes and healthy by not using makeup. You will save an awful amount of money on cosmetics which may in fact not work. Your self esteem will be heightened as you will feel confident in your own skin. By using moisturiser on a daily basis you can keep your skin looking hydrated whilst still looking fresh even if you have just got out of bed!
Some people may have serious problems by where they need to use certain cosmetics to improve their overall self esteem. Plastic surgeries may be needed should anyone be suffering a major defect in which they do not feel comfortable in themselves.
